I am a first-year PhD student in the English and Comparative Literature programme at Columbia University. I study experimental and avant-garde Asian diasporic poetry in the USA and the UK. I explore innovation and alterity through the aesthetic lens of poetic difficulty in relation to difficult being and bodies. More broadly, I am interested in how we interpret contemporary poetry and race at the intersections of politics with aesthetics, material history with form. My study is largely informed by: poetry and poetics; comparative and world literature; translation studies; postcolonial and decolonial studies; diaspora studies; Sinophone studies; global modernisms; the study of hyper-contemporary literature and literary prizes; creative-critical and hybrid research practices.
